Description
The Stallion Inspection is the most prestigious annual event organized by the Koninklijk Friesch Paarden-Stamboek (KFPS).
- It combines inspection, education, and entertainment. Stallions are evaluated for breeding quality, but there’s also a public show, clinics, and activities for visitors.
- The inspection process is multi-stage. Young stallions go through several viewings (“First Viewing”, “Second Viewing”, etc.). From these, a selection is made of those who may proceed to become approved studbook stallions.
- he event draws people internationally — breeders, horse enthusiasts, visitors from many countries. It’s one of the largest indoor equestrian events in the Netherlands.
- Alongside the official inspections, there are other highlights: exhibitions, a “Royal Friesian Live Show” (a spectacle with performances, music, etc.), clinics on breeding, care, training, nutrition, and welfare.
- There is also a championship among the selected studbook stallions; the culmination is naming a Champion Stallion.
- Venue is usually WTC Expo in Leeuwarden (Netherlands) in early January, with various days for different stages of the inspection.
